Front-End Developer

Portland, Oregon

EY Design Studio PDX is seeking a front-end developer to join a tight-knit, experienced, motivated and talented team. We strive to create the best user experience for our clients. To do so, we look for candidates who enjoy working on a variety of projects in an energetic environment and developing with both open source and enterprise systems. As part of one of the largest professional services firms in the world, this position provides plenty of growth opportunities for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate’s primary focus will be developing web and mobile applications. As we are an agile team, you’ll spend a minimum of your time in daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospectives. In between projects, the right individual will continue to learn and grow their skillset. Occasional travel from the Portland studio may be necessary, depending on the client and project.

Skills and attributes for success

You’re self-directed, requiring minimal supervision to complete many programming tasks. You’ll analyze programming problems, recommend solutions and help implement them. Your professional demeanor will project confidence and competence. Diligence and attention to detail are essential, helping you to minimize bugs and other issues during code reviews. Flexibility, interpersonal skills and a healthy sense of humor will keep you in high demand for new projects. Your knowledge of client-side performance optimization will serve you and end users well as you advocate for them.

Qualifications, Certifications & Education:

  • Experience with JavaScript, testing, debugging and documentation (1-3 years’ work experience or comparable education)

  • Ownership of quality of the design and code created
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving critical issues that may involve many systems, platforms and languages
  • A willingness to work on projects large and small, as well as maintenance efforts
