Inter-dependence days

Our EY Design Studio footprint includes countries in North and South America. Remarkably, many of these nations celebrate their respective days of independence around the same time each year. For example, there is a group in July — Canada (July 1), US (July 4), Argentina (July 9) and Colombia (July 20) — and another group in September, which includes Brazil (September 7), Costa Rica (September 15) and Mexico (September 16).

While we celebrate each region’s national and cultural independence, we value working together as a team. Each individual studio may have specialties in a particular area of user experience — be it service design, video production or front-end development — but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

The Challenge: To create a holistic health insurance platform that could serve as both a customer portal and an educational platform that informed customers of all Cigna has to offer.

Insight: There is a hierarchy of needs in health care, and the current system failed to address many critical foundational layers.

Our Approach: After extensive research in the health care community, we determined which aspects of health insurance needed more clarity and transparency. We applied these findings to One Guide, a website and app that combined the best features of Compass and myCigna and added a human customer service layer.
